Be Kind to Your Mind Poster for Kids: 9 Growth Mindset, Self-Care + Mindfulness Affirmations
Written by Kristi Yeh, LMFT
How we speak to ourselves matters. Our thoughts, actions, and emotions are connected, and changing our thoughts can have a positive ripple effect for future actions, feelings and thoughts. This concept comes from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is widely used to treat a variety of mental health issues.
One of my favorite ways to help kids build new neural pathways in their brain is by having them practice affirmations. The best affirmations are the ones kids (and adults!) create for themselves, but if people need inspiration or are too flooded with feelings to create one in the moment, this poster or the affirmation cards below can come in handy.
It’s always exciting to see what kids choose, and then you can remind them later on of affirmations that resonated with them during times of stress in the future.
I created this Pop It poster because so many of the students I work with love the Pop It fidget toys. This poster is ideal for children ages 7-13. Download your own copy for free!
