Here are some of the self-care products I’m loving these days. The products are broken down by category, but as you will notice, many of them could be in multiple self-care categories. I feature the different components of self-care to emphasize that self-care is more than bubble baths and manicures!

Emotional Self-Care Products

Emotional self-care is about discovering and practicing healthy coping strategies to move through difficult emotions and situations. Engaging in the activities that boost your mood consistently will help you increase resilience and overall wellbeing.

Card Decks

Self-Compassion Deck: 50 Mindfulness-Based Practices

People often ask how they can go from believing they should love themselves more, to actually practicing being kind and compassionate towards themselves. This card deck is a wonderful way to try out self-compassion and mindfulness skills that will help boost your mood, increase your focus, and deepen your empathy for others. I’ve used these cards in therapy with children and adults. Card decks are more fun and engaging compared to an article you read on your phone, and may even pique the interest of your children as well!

Christopher Willary, Mitch Abblett + Tim Desmond - $15.29

Dani DiPirro is the author, blogger, and designer behind Positively Present, a company focused on self-love, positivity and awareness. I fell in love with her designs on Instagram (@positivelypresent), and have purchased one of her books and framed prints. She created this free resource to help people take care of themselves during the Coronavirus. Her Self-Care card deck has 26 ideas that are beautifully illustrated with bright colors.

Intellectual Self-Care

Intellectual self-care is about being a lifelong learner. Practice intellectual self-care by doing anything that helps you continue to grow, such as: reading, learning a new skill, listening to podcasts, etc.

Book

Stand Tall Like a Mountain: Mindfulness and Self-Care for Children and Parents by Suzy Reading

self care book suzy reading parent self care

This is my favorite self-care book of all time! Reading’s book is comprehensive, easy to read, and beautifully illustrated. Reading not only helps parents prioritize their wellness, but shows them how to teach these essential life skills to their children. She covers harmonious eating habits and the benefits of movement that you enjoy, with a focus on yoga poses. Reading also provides coping skills and mindfulness prompts for the entire family. As a busy parent you can pick it up anytime and study one area so it doesn’t get too overwhelming. Over time, this book will help you and your family develop and sustain mental and physical wellbeing.

Physical, Spiritual + Emotional Self-Care

Physical self-care focuses on the basics, such as exercise, balanced eating, and adequate rest. Some people enjoy these aspects of self-care more than others, but they are the foundation of health as they allow you to more easily explore other areas of wellness. Spiritual self-care is about connecting to your purpose and fulfillment during the human experience. This can be through reading, conversations with loved ones or mentors, meditation, prayer, or a religious community.

Card Deck

Self-Care Survival Kit Deck of Cards

Career success coach Rachel Letham created this wonderful deck of self-care cards to keep you inspired and encouraged during the lifelong journey of self-care. She includes 52 accessible practices to help keep your mind, body, and soul healthy. A sneak peek of some of the cards include: lemon oil for an energy boost, drinking rose water tea, scrapbooking, enjoying your favorite meal, and prioritizing play!

Environmental Self-Care

Environmental self-care is about spending time curating a calming and inviting living space. Adding a new art print is a fun way to bring your unique sensibility to your home or office. An article by Renee Phillips highlights a study that suggests looking at art you love increases the blood flow to a part of your brain at a level equivalent to how your brain responds when gazing at a loved one.

Art Prints

Banana Peppers Prints

She has prints of all sizes, canvas prints, wood wall art, posters, and more. I just ordered the framed mini print, “Bloom” for my office.
